So in an article on the FP today...

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Elon Musk is stated as “Telsa founder”.

Elon did not found Tesla.

He was an early investor (led Series A round of VC funding) and chairman of the board.

Not the founder. That was Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning.

Can everyone stop pretending that Musk started Tesla!? He’s done a lot, but let’s not take away from the original real founders.

End rant.

(And I still can’t login to any other Kinja except Oppo so is someone willing to fight this battle for me on Jalopnik?)

It’s hard to fight that fight when the company itself considers Elon Musk a co-founder - but I get what you’re throwing down. I love a good technicality.

I love what Elon has done for the company, but I don’t like that he’s the household name associated with the company, and pretty much given electric car god status, when he wasn’t the true founder or the person that car up with the original ideas or ran the day to day operations. Eberhard was an everyday EE with a dream, Musk was just a guy with a bunch of money that thought it was a cool dream.
